Yoga

Focusing on the mind, body and spirit creates both harmony and unity within. Translated, Yoga means ‘Union’, the practice of Yoga has been around for more than 3,500 years and continues today to be one of the most sought after experiences to bring the spirit, body and mind back into union with oneself, and indeed with it all. The physical aspect of Yoga when coupled with breath awareness techniques have been known to:

  • Increase Vitality
  • Improve body awareness
  • Reduces tension
  • Foster inner peace
  • Allows for spiritual development
  • Decreases Stress levels
  • Lowers Blood pressure

“Yoga is not about touching your toes; it’s about what you learn on the way down.” – Judith Hanson Lasater.

Gentle Flow Yoga

Gentle Flow Yoga is a slow-paced flow class incorporating gentle stretching and strengthening movements performed sequentially, concentrating on maximum benefits. We combine awareness of the breath, which helps to calm the mind and enables you to move deeper into the poses. In each gentle yoga session, we include breath, mind, and body through pranayama, meditation, and asana.

Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga is a slower, more restorative type of yoga in which we spend 2-5 minutes in each pose. Yin Yoga allows the body to release not just on a physical level but also on a mental and emotional level. We are taking the time to be still and breathe into the pose. Yin Yoga targets the ‘Yin’ tissues of the body. These are the tendons, ligaments, joints, and fascia. The yin tissues are denser than our yang Tissues (The muscles) which is why they need more time to relax and release in each pose. This is amazing for creating mindfulness and opening the deeper layers of the body.

Invitation to Silence Meditation

Silent Meditation is an opportunity to connect with yourself on a deep level. Sometimes this experience can feel extremely blissful and relaxing; other times, it can feel a little uncomfortable and even confronting. The intention is to be the loving witness of your thoughts, emotions and physical sensations. Allowing ‘what is’ to simply be without needing to change it. With regular practice, many people experience a deep sense of peace, calm and clarity of mind as they learn to observe their thoughts rather than getting attached to them. The format is 20 minutes of Silent Meditation followed by a 10-minute chat (if desired).
